Short answer
Risk education is valid until the day you get your licence, or at most five years. That is the Swedish Transport Agency's wording, and it applies to both part 1 (Risk 1) and part 2 (Risk 2), for cars and for motorcycles.
How to count
Validity runs from the day you passed. If you did Risk 1 on 10 March 2026 it is valid at the latest until 10 March 2031. If you have not got your licence by then, you do it again.
The two parts count separately. If you did Risk 1 early and the skid pan late, Risk 1 expires first, and that is the only part you need to redo.
Validity ends when you get your licence
The second half of the rule is easy to miss: risk education is valid until the day you get your licence. It belongs to that particular licence process. If you get a car licence and later want a motorcycle licence, you do a new risk education for the motorcycle. That is not only about validity: the Transport Agency also states that risk education for cars does not count for motorcycles.
Both parts must be valid at the tests
You must have completed risk education before the driver test, that is both the theory test and the driving test. Both parts must be reported and valid. If either has expired you cannot take the tests until you have redone it.
What to do if it has expired
