Short answer
On Risk 2 for car you drive on a slippery surface for about 3–4 hours and train braking, swerving and regaining control of a skidding car. The Transport Agency describes part 2 as training on speed, safety and driving in different road and weather conditions, including a skid pan. There is no exam, but you drive on your own and should be near the end of your training.
The day on the skid pan
- Arrival and briefing. Arrive 15 minutes early with valid photo ID. If you come by bus we pick you up at Stora Övattnet. ID and sobriety are checked. The instructor walks you through the exercises, the cars and what happens in the car when grip disappears.
- Low-speed driving. You start by feeling how the car reacts on the slippery surface: braking, steering and how much longer the braking distance gets.
- Skidding and swerving. The exercises build on each other. You experience skids, train to steer correctly and swerve for obstacles that appear suddenly, at several levels of grip.
- Speed. You see the difference between speeds on the same surface, and how quickly a situation becomes impossible to save.
- Reflection. After each exercise you discuss what happened and why. That is what makes the lesson stick when you drive home.
You drive our modern automatic cars fitted with skid systems on a newly paved track in Landvetter. The car is included, and you may drive an automatic here even if your test is in a manual car. Part of the training is outdoors, so dress for the weather.
What should I be able to do beforehand?
You drive on your own the whole time, so you need driving experience: starting, braking and steering without thinking about it, and feeling comfortable at country-road speeds. That is why Risk 2 belongs near the end of your training. You do not need a learner permit and you do not need to be enrolled at a driving school.
Is Risk 2 a test?
No, it is not a driving test. You pass by taking part in the whole session and reaching all the course goals. When you have passed we report it to the Transport Agency, and the course is valid until you get your licence, at most five years.

- Valid photo ID (BankID is not accepted).
- Clothes and shoes for the weather.
- Something to eat if you booked the combo course with Risk 1 the same day.

What is Risk 2?
